Welcome to Longechuk Community Association. We glad you visit with us. Please help us grow LCA. The people of Sudan suffered through more than two decades of civil war before a fragile peace agreement was reached in 2005 between the North and South Sudan. When the peace was signed, people were repatriated from the refugees camps back to their home communities with bare hands. They have to start rebuilding from the scratches. They have lost their homes and personal belongs during the civil war. Longechuk Community members in the United States were so compassionate to answer that call. Since 2006, LCA has been helping the people of Longechuk County in Southern Sudan providing sanitation and clean water, agriculture assistance, education for children and adults, health awareness, and vocational training programs.

Our Work

In 2010, Longechuk community Association held its first annual conference in Omaha, Nebraska. The conference discuss varies issues from South Sudan referendum, development, and what Longechuk community in the United States should do to help if the people of Southern Sudan chose to separate from the North. The community discussed which project needs to be launch after the referendum. The project launch was put on hold until the 2nd annual conference took place in 2011.

7/24/2010, Longechuk County citizens in Southern Sudan packed the local airport to receive their new county commissioner Stephen Kueth Gach accompanied by the Upper Nile State Minister of local government and law enforcement James Ruach Kuon. The citizens were so happy celebrating the coming of the new commissioner. Stephen Gach earned his Bachelor and a Master’s degree from Canada. Because of the suffering of the South Sudanese people, Stephen Gach left his family in Canada to help his people back home. Last year he was appointed Longechuk county Commissioner by his Excellency 1st Lt. General, President of the Government of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit. The commissioner bowed to work hand in hand with local communities and called on the longechuk community Diasporas to do their best to help with the nation building.
